Coleman Research Group, Inc. (www.colemanrg.com) is an independent research firm providing institutional investors direct access to industry professionals through one-on-one phone consultations, in-person meetings, seminars and educational events. Due to the continued growth of our business, we are currently looking to recruit a Finance Director/Controller based in our New York headquarters. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close knit, dynamic and enthusiastic team.
Position Summary:
CRG is currently seeking a Finance Director/Controller to lead its day-to-day finance operations, manage the monthly close and prepare the monthly financial reports. The Finance Director/Controller will participate in studies to improve the firm's operational and financial effectiveness and assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting and cost accounting analysis.
Essential Functions:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the internal accounting controls and processes
- Maintain and, as necessary, develop strong internal accounting controls and processes to safeguard company assets, and provide timely and accurate financial reporting of results
- Maintain adequate documentation of the accounting controls and processes
- Maintain adequate documentation of the company's accounting policies
- Manage the monthly close of the accounting system
- Prepare and distribute on a timely basis monthly profit and loss and working capital statements
- Maintain and improve the company's chart of accounts
- Directly supervise the accounting staff
- Assist the CFO with the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts
- Assist with gathering and populating the firm's budgeting software with the data to prepare the firm's annual budget
- Monitor daily cash balances and prepare regular cash forecasts
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting; MBA/CPA a plus
- 5 to 7 years of experience (combination public and private, with minimum of 3 years' private experience
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present effectively verbally and in writing
- The ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Detail and process oriented
- Ability and willingness to "roll-up your sleeves"
- Technical knowledge of GAAP
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office product skills mandatory
Compensation Package:
Base salary plus annual bonus potential. Participation in 401(k) plan, medical, dental, life insurance, EAP and commuter benefits.
